What To Do: Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center
For All Visitors
Located at the southwest entrance to the park, the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is the first National Park visitor center to receive LEED Platinum certification for advanced environmental design and construction. Ask the Park Service staff to point out some of its remarkable design elements. The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center gets its name from the Mountain Maidu word for Lassen Peak, which means “Snow Mountain.”
The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is open April 1st - December 1st.

Lassen Cafe & Gift
Located inside the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, Lassen Cafe & Gift is a great stop for a refreshing meal or cup of espresso.
As the largest gift shop in the park, Lassen Cafe & Gift also offers a beautiful selection of handcrafted jewelry and locally produced artwork (several created by American Indian artisans), as well as apparel, sundries and park souvenirs. Many are one-of-a-kind treasures that provide the perfect gift or keepsake of a visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Cafe features soups, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, beverages, and espresso. Take your meal "to go," or enjoy it at the Cafe in the indoor or outdoor dining areas.
See operating hours below.
Be sure to see the park’s fascinating 20 minute documentary film, which explains the 1914-15 eruptions of Lassen Peak, and tour the visitor center’s informative displays to learn about the forces of nature active within Lassen Volcanic National Park. The film was made possible by the Lassen Park Foundation. Click here to read more about a "Passion for Lassen."
